Vietnam is the world's largest producer and exporter of sand fish, with an export value of more than 2.4 billion US dollars in 2022. The sand fish is Vietnam's second largest export seafood after shrimp products, and most of the sand fish are produced in the Mekong Delta region.Despite many challenges, more than 400 enterprises in Vietnam engaged in the export business of Salmon have achieved success. Salmon has been exported to more than 140 countries and regions around the world, of which the United States, China, the European Union and Japan are the four major export markets.
With the General Department of Fisheries of Vietnam setting the output and export targets of seafood in 2023, and the global demand has declined due to the inflation cycle, the Vietnamese government and the country have adopted new strategies to focus on the sales of Salmon in the domestic market.
