In the beginning of 2023, a bluefin tuna weighing 418 kg set a fishing record. This bluefin tuna was caught by the fishing boat "D é bora Marisa" in the outer sea of Cabo Gir ã o.

The regulatory agency recalled that the annual quota of bluefin tuna was about 200 tons, which was roughly equal between Madeira and Azores, and the catch reached 111.11 tons in 2020. This 418 kg bluefin tuna has entered the Funchal auction in Portugal.
