The RFM certification process is a collaboration between the Pacific Whiting Conservation Cooperative (PWCC) and its certified seafood cooperative, and products harvested from the Pacific cod fishery from January 10, 2022 are eligible for sale under the RFM ecolabel. The primary objective of the RFM Fisheries Standard is biological sustainability, taking into account conservation, biodiversity and ecosystem integrity. PWCC is a fisheries and research partnership of three Seattle, Washington-based companies that promote the sustainable development of the cod industry.
